Stripe app manual

Follow these easy steps to install the Billit app and start sending your first e-invoices. After the one-time set-up all your invoices will be sent automatically.

  1. Install the app from the market place

Login to your Stripe account and go to the Stripe App Marketplace. Click on the + sign in the bottom right corner to add a new app. Search for 'Billit'  in the billing category. Click on the logo to open the detail page. Select 'Install app' in the top right corner to go ahead with the set-up.

  2. Login with Billit

To connect the Billit app with your Stripe account, you need to login to Billit. Click 'Sign in to Billit' to continue with your existing Billit account. If you don't have one yet, click 'Sign up'.

After signing in to Billit you will be sent back to Stripe for authentication.

  3. Complete identification

In order to safely start sending e-invoices you will first need to complete your one-time identification through a KYC process. In your Billit account, fully complete your company profile with your CBE, phone and IBAN number. When you're done, go back to Stripe and click 'Send e-invoice via Peppol' to continue.

  4. Choose your settings

You can now complete your personal preferences. First, select the countries you want to send e-invoices to. Choose 'select all' at the top for all countries.

Depending on local regulations, some countries require an extra verification step. Click on 'Enable connection' to see the detailed requirements for that country.

Next, choose the customers you want to include or exclude from receiving e-invoices. Select them from the list or add new ones via the + button. You can add several e-mail addresses and separate them with a semicolon.

Click 'Save changes' or 'Add' to confirm your selection.
You can always come back to this menu in Stripe or Billit to update your settings.

  5. Dashboard view

Your set-up is now complete. The dashboard in your Stripe account will give you an overview of all your invoices.

Go to the home page of your Stripe environment. Click on 'Billing' and 'Invoices page'. You will also see this dashboard when you log in.

  6. Invoice detail view

In the overview you will see the number of invoices that have been sent, are pending or can't be sent due to errors.

Click on 'View invoice list' to see more details per invoice, such as the current state and history.

Click on an 'error' status invoice to find out why it could not be delivered. If the invoice has been rejected, this means that the invoice was delivered, but rejected by the recipient. You will need to fix any issues in your invoice before resending it.

You can receive an automatic email when an error occurs. Choose this setting in your Stripe account.

Select a 'delivered' e-invoice to see its details. Click 'Open and download' to see the actual invoice. You will be redirected to Billit.

FAQ

  • What is KYC and why do I need this?

KYC or Know Your Customer is an authentication process that verifies your identity. This guarantees that only you can send your invoices. It protects your data and prevents invoicing fraud. KYC is mandatory by law to send e-invoices.

  • The country I want to send e-invoices to is not in the list

Billit is continuously working on new e-invoicing integrations worldwide. As soon as a new country is available, it will be added to the list.
  • How do the include and exclude customer options work?

Invoices will be sent automatically to all countries you have enabled and to all recipients in those countries.
If you want to prevent some recipients from an enabled country to receive invoices, you have to excluded them from the list.

If some customers need to receive your invoices but you don't want to send to all customers of that country, you can include these specific customers without having to add their countries.
