What exactly does mandatory e-invoicing from 2026
Who will be subject to mandatory e-invoicing via Peppol?
Why will e-invoicing become mandatory in Belgium?
Is it sufficient to only send invoices via Peppol to comply with the obligation?

Are paper invoices still legal?

Paper invoices will remain legal until the end of 2025. From January 1, 2026, they will no longer be legal for transactions between Belgian VAT-registered companies. Paper invoices will remain valid for sales or services to private individuals.

You can also still voluntarily send a paper copy of the invoice to your customer, but from 2026 onwards, the structured electronic invoice will be the only invoice that is legally compliant.

If you use Billit, you can easily print a paper copy of your invoice.
Can I already start send and receiveing e-invoices via Peppol even though this is not yet mandatory?
